How do I make payment?
Payment is done electronically. There are several modes of payment available such as: M-Pesa, VISA, Airtel Money and others. After successful submission of the SBP and Public Health Clearance application form the applicant receives an invoice for payment of an application fee. A standard application fee of KES. 1,050 is chargeable. The applicant will be notified via SMS on when to make a second payment for SBP upon assessment of the business premises and as per the provisions of the County Revenue Administration Act, 2014. The SBP system uses Pesaflow as the payments aggregator.
I have forgotten my password. How can I access the system?
- Click on “sign in”
- Below you will see a link “forgot password”. Click the link.
- Type the “username” or “email address” you used during the initial registration process.
- An email will be sent to your inbox where you will find a link. Click on the link that you will receive in your email and reset the password.
- You have successfully reset the password. Use the new username and password to log into the system.
What type of documents do I need to attach when applying for a single business permit?
All required attachments will be submitted at the point of application. The applicant will be required to submit a water bill for purposes of confirming if the refuse collection fees have been paid, a certificate of registration for a business name or a certificate of incorporation for a limited liability company.
In which format does the e-SBP system allow users to upload required documents?
Application documents can be uploaded either as .pdf, .mpeg .doc, .txt and others. The only exceptions are .exe, .bat, and other file types that pose a threat to online systems.
How will I track the progress of my application?
Using your profile details, you can log into the system to view the progress of your application at any time. The system generates a unique number for the application, which you can use to track your application e.g. SBP-AAA0001. The e-business permit system also gives an to receive notifications via SMS or e-mail. The system is able to notify the user on the following accounts:
- Once the application goes to the next approval stage
- When a correction is required
- When additional payment is required
- When the application has been approved.
How will I know if my application is successful or unsuccessful?
A “pop up” message will appear on your screen upon successful submission.
What are the benefits of an e-SBP system?
The overall objective is to encourage business creation, reduce the cost of doing business and attract more private investment in the County. This will be achieved through significant savings on time and money associated with manual applications e.g. travelling to the County office, long queues. Additionally, applicants will receive notifications on the status of their applications via SMS. Applicants will also be able to conveniently apply for and download the permits from their offices, homes or cyber cafes.

Can I access the e-SBP system from my mobile phone?
Yes, applicants can access the e-SBP system from their smart phones through www.eservices.nyeri.go.ke and follow the steps as described in this brochure.
Is there an extra fee for accessing the e-SBP system online?
No, there is no extra cost for accessing the e-SBP system online. As stated above, the current cost is KES 1,050 for application and the SBP fee dependent on the type of business. Please note that all fees are subject to revision from time to time.
How long will it take to obtain the e-SBP?
Fully compliant applications that will not require inspections can be processed within a day or two, while those that will trigger an inspection will take a few days.
